Tantrum Tracker is operated by Bad Yorkie Studios LLC, a California limited liability company. This page explains how we handle the records you keep about a child in Tantrum Tracker. We treat all of those records as consumer health data under Washington's My Health My Data Act and similar state laws, and we give every user the rights described here, wherever you live. Our general Privacy Policy at https://www.badyorkiestudios.com/privacy covers everything else the app collects.

The short version

  • The records are about a child, entered by you, the adult account holder.
  • We use them for one thing: to store them and show them back to you. No advertising, no sale, ever. Our usage statistics are not tied to your account and never include these records.
  • Only Google's cloud service, which stores the data for us, and the Support Circle members you invite ever receive them.
  • We ask for your consent before you create your first child's record; that consent covers every child you add. We ask again, separately, each time you share a child's records with a Support Circle.
  • You can download, withdraw consent, or delete the records at any time, in the app.

1. What we collect, and why

The records you keep about a child:

CategoryWhat it is
ProfileThe child's name and, if you choose to enter them, an age, an address and the name and contact details of a guardian and a care provider
Behaviour episodesWhen an episode happened, how long it lasted, how severe it was, where you were, the categories you pick, and any notes you write
Health markersDaily indicators for gluten and casein, with severity; a medication indicator; and any medication name you type
NotesFree-text notes you attach to a child
Photos and videoMedia you capture or import for a child. Video includes its audio

Why we collect it, and the only things we do with it:

  • To store the records and show them back to you as lists, a calendar and charts, and to let you view your photos and play your videos.
  • To keep a copy in the cloud if you subscribe, so the records survive a lost phone and are there when you sign in on another device.
  • To let the people you invite to a Support Circle see them, if you choose to share.
  • To make small preview images of your photos and videos so the gallery loads quickly.
  • To keep a short-lived recovery copy so an accidental deletion can be undone (see §7).

We do not use these records for advertising, analytics, profiling, research, training, or any purpose not listed above. If we ever wanted to, we would have to tell you first and ask again for your consent.

2. Where the records come from

Everything comes from you, the adult account holder: what you type into the app, what you capture with the camera or import from your photo library, and quick entries you make from the Apple Watch app, the home-screen widget, or Siri. We do not collect these records from the child, from any device sensor, from other apps, or from any third party.

3. What we share, and with whom

Categories shared: if, and only if, you add a child to a Support Circle, the people in that circle can see that child's entire record: profile, behaviour episodes, health markers including medication, notes, and photos and video. You choose who is in the circle, you can remove anyone at any time, and you can take the child out of the circle at any time. If you own a Support Circle and your subscription ends and the grace period passes, the circles you own close and their members lose access to the records you shared with them; you keep the records on your own device once you open the app. If your own subscription ends while you are a member of someone else's circle, you leave it.

The list of everyone who can receive these records:

WhoWhat they receiveWhy
Google's cloud service (Google LLC)The records, to store them for us and to make preview imagesThey are our data processor. They act only on our instructions and may not use the records for their own purposes
Support Circle members you inviteThe records for the child you chose to shareBecause you asked us to share them

That is the whole list. In particular:

  • Our crash-reporting service and our email delivery service do not receive your child's records. Crash reports carry only an account identifier; emails carry only your address and the message.
  • Apple, Google Play, and our subscription-management provider handle your subscription and sign-in. They never see the records.
  • We do not sell your child's information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. Records go only to the people you choose to share them with, through Support Circle.

4. Consent: how we ask, and how you withdraw

Before you create your first child's record, the app shows you a consent screen that lists what is collected, why, who receives it, and how to withdraw. You tick a box that says: "I am an adult, and for each child whose records I add I am the parent or legal guardian or have that parent's or guardian's permission, and I consent to Tantrum Tracker collecting and storing those records", and choose Give consent. That one consent covers every child you add, now and later. Nothing is pre-ticked, and the app does not treat closing the screen as agreement.

Each time you share a child's records with a Support Circle, the app asks again, separately, and tells you exactly who will be able to see what. That consent is recorded with the child's record.

To withdraw consent: Settings → Privacy → Withdraw consent and delete my records. Because keeping the records is itself a use of them, withdrawing consent deletes them (see §6). To stop sharing with a circle without deleting anything, remove the child from the circle, or remove the member.

If we ever change what we collect, why, or who receives it, the app will ask for your consent again before continuing, and this page will say what changed.

5. Your rights

You can exercise every right below yourself, in the app, immediately, and as often as you like:

RightWhere
See what we hold and download it: every record (profile, episodes, health markers, notes), plus the list of everyone who has received them. Photos and videos are not in the file; save them from the gallery with Save to PhotosSettings → Privacy → Download my records
Withdraw consentSettings → Privacy → Withdraw consent and delete my records
Delete: one child, or everythingDelete a child from the child list (Edit); delete everything from Settings → Privacy → Delete all my records, or by deleting your account

If you would rather email us, write to privacy@badyorkiestudios.com from the email address on your account. We will confirm your identity by replying to that address, and we will act within 45 days. If we genuinely need longer we will tell you why and take at most another 45 days. There is no charge for up to two requests a year.

If you disagree with how we handled a request, reply to our answer with "Appeal" in the subject line. A person will review it and answer in writing within 45 days. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact the Washington State Attorney General at https://www.atg.wa.gov/file-complaint.

The rights apply to the child's records whoever the child is; the adult account holder exercises them on the child's behalf.

6. What deletion does

When you delete a child's record, or all your records, we delete them from our live systems immediately, and your device stops holding them. If the child was shared with a Support Circle, the circle loses access at the same moment. Our processor's copy is deleted automatically as part of that deletion, because our processor stores the data only where we tell it to.

7. How long deleted records can still exist

To let us undo an accidental deletion, deleted records and media may persist in our recovery systems for up to 14 days. After that they are gone and cannot be recovered by us or by anyone.

8. Things we do not do

  • We do not sell consumer health data, and we never will without asking you for a separate, written authorisation first.
  • We do not use location. The app never asks for it, so there is no geofencing of any kind.
  • We do not use advertising services. We collect usage statistics about how the app is used (which screens and features), and they are not tied to your account. They never include your child's records; see the Privacy Policy.
  • We do not collect anything from the child directly. The app is for adults.

9. Security

Records travel encrypted, are stored encrypted in our cloud, and on your device are protected by your device's own encryption (see the Privacy Policy). They are accessible only to you, the circle members you choose, and us, only as far as operating the service requires. Our processor is bound by contract to handle the records only on our instructions.

10. If our business changes hands

If Bad Yorkie Studios LLC is sold as a company, nothing about your data changes: the same company holds it under this policy. If instead the Tantrum Tracker assets are sold or transferred, the successor must accept this policy and our Privacy Policy for everything collected before the transfer. We will post notice in the app and on this page before any such transfer, and you will have the chance to download or delete your records first.

11. Changes to this page

If we change this page in a way that matters to you, the app will tell you and, where the change involves new data, new purposes, or new recipients, ask for your consent again. The "Last updated" date at the top always shows the current version.
